Plants

plants and their patterns are my muse.

 

growing and watching them helps me understand how to design with them.

 

i look for patterns, growth habits, seasonal interest and architectural qualities in the natural and built landscape.   when plants juxtapose other materials, such as stone, metal, wood, pottery--- my heart skips a beat.

 

color, texture and form are elements my eye ponders when designing containers and gardens. 

 

i think it is important to tell a story in a small garden. 

i like to use  interesting containers to create living art.
i plant into biodegradable pottery, antique treasures, local artisan pottery and design some of my own containers out of metal and wood. 

 

with the right plant in the right pot and in the right SPOT--- you, too, can have living art!
